About us

We ran on paper.

I started on a small rural Maine volunteer department. Call logging, truck checks, training sign-ins, grant folders — all of it lived on paper and binders on the desk. The work was already happening. You just couldn’t see the year at a glance, grant time meant digging, and a finished truck check sat on a clipboard instead of a screen.

I knew there had to be a better way. The software I found was built for bigger departments with bigger budgets. Powerful, sure — and priced out of reach for a small volunteer shop like ours.

So I designed and built Turnout Ops for the little guys.

It’s a station desk, not an enterprise platform: call log and insights, department calendar, grants tracking, apparatus and equipment checklists, inventory, and required-course tracking at a glance — with clear pricing and no fluff. Something a chief or officer can actually use between calls, on a phone or at the desk. Paper to usable software for the station work that belongs there; Training does not replace paper sign-ups or physical signatures when those are still required.

I still serve in a small department. This exists because paper got us this far, and small budgets deserve better than “sorry, that’s only for the big cities.”

If that sounds like your department, I’d like to hear from you.
